SUS632J1 (15-7PH) | Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel

Overview & Features

The solution heat-treated state (austenite phase) of SUS631 is soft and can be processed in various ways, but requires two or more heat treatments of martensitization and precipitation hardening to increase its strength.
Because SUS632J1 is always in martensitic phase with or without solution treatment, it can be strengthened with only one precipitation hardening heat treatment.
Solution heat-treated or cold rolled finish can be selected, Rolling finish provides higher strength, but not as high as that of SUS631.This steel grade exhibits strong magnetism in all states.
Solution heat-treated materials, although a martensitic phase, can be lightly processed because of to its low carbon content and toughness.
Also, because there is little variation in strength at welded portion, it is sometimes used in applications where welding is involved, such as steel belts.

TOKKIN supplies a variety of stainless steels for springs as specified in JIS G4313.
Please refer to this page for the features and comparison of each grade of stainless steel for springs.

Age hardening(Precipitation Hardening) can be performed on SUS632J1.
Regardless of temper, precipitation hardening should be perform at 480℃ for 1 hour.
Please see the figure below for mechanical properties resulting from heat treatment .

Stainless Steels for Springs

This materials are possible to increase their hardness by rolling, they can be used as spring parts.

Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steels

These grades were developed with the concept of steels that are easy to form like austenitic stainless steels, and provide high strength like that of martensitic stainless steels.

Stainless Steels Foils (Under t0.10mm)

We offer not only thin stainless steel foils, but also propose the appropriate steel grade and temper depending on specific application and use requirements, such as strength, workablility, magnetism, and corrosion resistance.
