FS-1 | High-Performance Ferritic Stainless Steel

Overview & Features

FS-1 is our proprietary steel grade, is a ferritic stainless steel derived from the typical steel grade SUS430. By adding Nickel. Despite being a ferritic stainless steel, FS-1 possesses a certain level of strength and corrosion resistance, it can be used as an alternative to SUS304 in general environmental conditions.

Main features of FS-1:

(1) Better formability than SUS430
It has sufficient formability compared to SUS430, and high precision stamping is possible without drawing cracks.

(2) Equivalent strength to SUS304
FS-1 can achieve hardness up to HV330 and tensile strength up to 1100 MPa (equivalent to SUS304-3/4H) with full hard finish.

(3) Little of no impact from Nickel price fluctuations
The low Nickel content of 1%, makes it virtually unaffected by fluctuations in Nickel price, enabling stable cost control.

We can manufacture according to your desired hardness between annealed to full hardened as shown in the table below.
Some finishes may not be available depending on the thickness of the sheet, so please consult with us first.
*For ultra-thin foil, soft materials such as annealed or BA finish may not be applicable due to concerns about defects (folding, wrinkling, etc.).

The results of the salt spray test for FS-1, SUS304, and SU430 are shown in the figure below.
It has superior corrosion resistance compared to SUS430.

Stainless Steels for Springs

This materials are possible to increase their hardness by rolling, they can be used as spring parts.

Stainless Steels

Stainless steel is an alloy of iron (Fe) with at least 10.5% chromium (Cr) and is used in a wide range of applications because it has good properties in terms of corrosion resistance, strength, workability, and heat resistance.
